Ronstan's Constrictor is a unique, ultralight, simple and strong rethink of the old-school rope clutch.The new generation in rope clutches! Unlike conventional clutches, the Constrictor system does not crush the rope between two metal surfaces. Instead, the loaded rope is securely held in a textile sock, which is locked securely between a titanium ring and an anchor base.The line runs freely through the sock in one direction, but is gripped instantly within the sock when running out in the opposite direction. Pulling on an SK-75 Dyneema lanyard retracts the sock and releases the line.Stronger and lighter: Constrictor is stronger, with twice the holding power of conventional clutches; three times lighter, saving weight and increasing performance; with no line abrasion or rupture; can be released easily under load without the use of a winch; and can be remotely released by extending the Dyneema lanyard. The extraordinary grip is the result of fiber-to-fiber contact that is far less aggressive than a traditional metal cam, and much more effective.Releases easily under load: The line can quickly be released under load without the use of a winch simply by pulling the lanyard.Structural integration: The Constrictor is also available in a version suitable for structurally integrated installations.
